Future Developments in the Township


The Brookside Golf & Country Club has contracted with architects/developers Mitch and John Laplante, of Laplante Associates, to develop 24 single family freestanding custom homes on six acres that border the Brookside West area. Bob Webb has been chosen as the builder for the development.

ELMWOOD APARTMENT DEVELOPMENT (Thompson Street & Rt 161 near Linworth)

The Far Northwest Coalition of Columbus (FNWC), a local development advisory board, received an application in March 2019 to approve or deny a rezoning request related to 6181 Thompson Street near the intersection of Linworth Road and S.R. 161. The developer wishes to build multifamily residential units on the City of Columbus property which abuts Brookside Estates. development being proposed on Thompson Street. It could also potentially include businesses in a future phase. The Coalition recommended denial of the request in April 2019.


The Columbus Department of Development notified parties that the Council variance and rezoning applications (CV19-021 & Z19-023) related to the proposed development at 6181 Thompson Street are not expected to be heard before the August Council recess so the hearings will most likely be held in September.
