Worthington Hills 4th of July Parade

Monday, July 4, 2022

Please see the below email from the Worthington Hills July 4th Parade Committee and the Worthington Hills Civic Association for important information about July 4th festivities in Worthington Hills:

The planning committee for our Worthington Hills July 4th Parade and the Worthington Hills Civic Association have been working closely with Perry Township Police, Homeland Security and Sharon Township Police to do all we can to ensure a safe, orderly, FUN July 4th experience for our community. No threats have been made to our community. We’re proactively increasing security measures to make this event as safe as possible.

At the request of Perry Township Police, we are taking a few extra safety precautions for this year’s July 4th Parade. Here’s what you need to know:

  • NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC, including golf cards, will be permitted along the parade route starting 11 a.m. on July 4
    • Entrances into Worthington Hills on Clubview Blvd. and Soutview Ave. will both be closed to all vehicular traffic until the conclusion of the parade.
    • Vehicular access to the Worthington Hills Country Club will also be closed at 11 a.m.
    • To avoid inconvenience, please have all guests arrive prior to 11 a.m.
    • Neighbors and guests needing to get a location along the parade route after 11 a.m. will need to get there on foot.
    • The only exception to these road closures will be emergency vehicles and golf carts operated by parade committee members or participants who will be issued police-approved dashboard passes.
    • Normal traffic patterns will be immediately re-established upon the conclusion of the parade.
  • Increased police presence: You may notice an increased police presence, including dogs from the K-9 unit, drones, and police horses. Please don’t be alarmed – they are here at our invitation, to protect our children and enhance our safety.
  • Physical barricades on Clubview Blvd: The police will place industrial barricades to block traffic through the main entrance on Clubview Blvd. after 11 a.m. These barricades will be removed at the conclusion of the parade. This precaution is being taken to protect parade participants and parade watchers alike from any non-approved vehicles.

Other important July 4th safety reminders

  • Golf carts are registered motor vehicles and can only be driven by licensed drivers. They are required to follow all traffic laws; and NOT permitted to pass each other, or other vehicles, on roads where a “double yellow line” is present.
  • Child safety: As is the case with any parade, our July 4th parade features many large, moving vehicles. Please take extra effort to remind your children to stay behind the curb for the duration of the parade, to protect their safety.
  • Gun safety: While Ohio law permits both the open and concealed carry of weapons – it remains illegal to do so while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This law will be strictly enforced by police.

Finally, we just wanted to share a friendly reminder that the Worthington Hills 4th of July Parade would not be possible without the full support and guidance of our local police departments. If a police officer provides instruction or direction, we ask that our neighbors make every effort to comply, respectfully.

Thank you for your attention to this important safety information for our July 4th Parade! For a full overview of all Worthington Hills July 4th Celebration event dates and details, visit the Worthington Hills Civic Association Web site. Questions? Please contact whillsjuly4thcommittee@gmail.com.
