The Worthington Fire Department is partnering with the Red Cross to help install free smoke alarms in Worthington Hills as part of their Sound the Alarm event This year's goal is to install 100 smoke detector units.
The Red cross needs additional volunteers to help install as many smoke alarms as possible. No prior experience is necessary; the Red Cross will provide all the training needed. Anyone can volunteer, but those who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 must wear a mask. The event will be held rain or shine.

- There are two opportunities to choose from:
- May 5, 2022 Neighborhood Canvassing – Sound the Alarm – Worthington (to determine who is interested)
- May 7, 2022 In-home fire safety visits – Sound the Alarm – Worthington (installation of units)
