Dear Blind Brook Drive residents:
The Perry Township Police and the Worthington Hills July 4th Parade Planning Committee have again chosen BLIND BROOK as the staging area for ALL parade participants, the morning of the Worthington Hills July 4th Parade.
We are very grateful to Blind Brook residents for their support and cooperation in ensuring that last year’s utilization of Blind Brook for parade staging worked so well!
Here are some reminders regarding why we’re using Blind Brook for this purpose, and what you can expect:
- Why we’re utilizing Blind Brook for parade line up: Concentrating all parade participants on one street is a nationally recognized best practice for large community parades, and will enable the Perry Township Police to provide a greater degree of oversight and control over key safety measures on the day of the parade. Blind Brook is the logical choice because of its proximity to the start of the parade route; and because its length can accommodate a large number of parade participants.
- What does this mean to you? Again this year, most residents on Blind Brook will see parade participants lined up in front of your homes, the morning of the parade.
- Small yard markers: During the days before the parade, we’ll place small, temporary markers along Blind Brook, to ensure each parade participant knows exactly where to line up, the morning of the event. Please do not move these temporary markers.
- No street parking on July 4th: To ensure that emergency vehicles maintain access to Blind Brook on parade day, Perry Township Police will be placing “No Street Parking” signs on Blind Brook, the week before the parade, notifying residents that street parking is not permitted on July 4. Parade participants will start lining up very early on July 4. Please remind your guests, and all members of your household, of this parking restriction.
- Limited traffic on Blind Brook the morning of July 4: Parade participants will begin entering the Blind Brook staging area at 9 a.m. on July 4. To avoid traffic congestion and to improve safety, please make every effort to limit vehicle usage on Blind Brook, from 9 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade. Blind Brook residents are strongly encouraged to walk to their parade-watching location; or to drive there very early. Again this year, all street traffic within Worthington Hills will be prohibited after 11 a.m.
- What else can you expect?
- Other parking/driving restrictions: On the morning of the parade, traffic will limited again this year to one-way northbound/westbound only on Clubview North from Highview Dr. to Hickory Ridge Ln.
- Restrooms: Port O Johns will be placed in several driveways on Blind Brook (with homeowner permission), for parade participant use.
- Post-parade clean up: Perry Township will clean streets along the parade route on July 5th, and will extend that clean up to include Blind Brook.
Thank you in advance for helping us ensure a fun and safe July 4th Parade!
Sincerely,
