Special Duty is the hiring of off-duty officers to work security (events and businesses), traffic control (events and construction) and/or escorts (oversized loads).

Special Duty is done on a voluntary basis and our ability to fill your request is based on the availability of off-duty officers seeking special duty assignments. The Special Duty coordinator manages all requests for off-duty police services. We ask that a 48-hour notice before your event be given to enhance the possibility of your request being filled. The Special Duty Bureau cannot guarantee that all job requests will be filled.
