Franklin County Public Health is responsible for mosquito control services in Franklin County. Regular mosquito surveillance is set to begin the week of May 15, 2023. FCPH's schedule, and mosquito control resources are available on their dedicated webpage: https://mosquito.myfcph.org/. Their spray map is available at https://fca.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8da9852d2f284303b7f79897a830b0b1.
Controlling mosquito breeding is the most effective method of controlling the mosquito population. You can report a mosquito problem, or standing water and flooded aras, on the FCPH website at https://mosquito.myfcph.org/request-for-service/, or by calling (614) 525-2483 between 9 am and 6 pm. Please note that if you call during regular business hours, a member of the company the county contracts with, Clarke Mosquito Control, will answer the phone. Calls made outside of regular business hours will go to voicemail.
Clarke will set up traps on weekends to identify large mosquito populations and mosquitos carrying West Nile Virus. FCPH performs spray events to help reduce the mosquito population based on the results of the traps or at the request of a community. For example, Perry Township requests mosquito sprays before the 4th of July parades.
